NZCF Constitution Review – Online Workshop 4 May
The NZCF is currently reviewing and amending it’s constitution in order to comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022. It is also a good time to make any other changes to this important document.
A review document was circulated some time ago asking for submissions and suggestions. These submissions have now been reviewed and summarised.
4 clubs put in submissions of varying lengths as did 4 individuals – in terms of methodology, we generally considered the full club submissions ahead of all others.
Various submissions can be viewed here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zXnEPF-H7oWWeAJ2eWDEHeY01cf63fwO?usp=sharing
Compilation/analysis document can be found here: https://compete.newzealandchess.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Reregistration-Consultation-Submissions-Compilation-and-Analysis-24-4-2025.xlsx
There will be a workshop on Sunday 4 May at 7pm (late April being a long weekend) to go through the outcomes from the submissions and work through areas where the submissions have not provided a clear pathway. This is not a special general meeting so clubs are not required to register delegates in the constitutional sense, but we encourage clubs to send a club committee member – if someone in particular will be attending and is not receiving this email already, please forward their info to the NZCF President, Craig Hall, who is leading this vital project.

Next step after this workshop will be Council approving the final shape of drafting instructions and then engaging Parry Field. We will also request a template club constitution for clubs to use if they wish to. Once the final constitution is completed by Parry Field, Council will call a Special General Meeting to approve it.
